DELTA State House of Assembly (DSHA), on Wednesday June 3, 2015
approved Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s request for confirmation of persons
for appointment as Special Advisers.
Okowa, in a letter to the DSHA, read by the Speaker, Peter Onwusanya,
at Wednesday’s session, said the request was in line with the
provisions of Section 196, Sub-section 1 – 3 of the Constitution of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
The governor stated in the letter that he intended to appoint one
Senior Political Adviser, one Political Adviser and 15 Special Advisers
to assist him in driving the state’s administration, saying the request
was part of strategies by his administration to actualise the agenda of
prosperity for all Deltans.
The request, soliciting the support of the House for consideration
and approval of the request by way of resolution, was approved following
the unanimous adoption of a motion to that effect by the Majority
Leader, Monday Igbuya.
Meanwhile, the House has confirmed the nominee for appointment as
Auditor-General, Local Government, Abel Esievo, from Ethiope East local
government area of the state.
The confirmation followed a motion to that effect by the Majority
Leader, Monday Igbuya, after the successful screening of the nominee,
now Auditor-General, Local Government-designate.
The House differed without any explanation the screening and
confirmation of the nominee for appointment as the Auditor-General,
State, Mrs Mary Brown-Njokanma.
The two names were forwarded to the house by the former governor,
Emmanuel Uduaghan, last week, three days to the end of his tenure.
