Taraba Gov, Ishaku, Appoints SSG, Media Aides

THE Taraba State governor, Darius Ishaku, has approved the appointment of Anthony Jellason as the Secretary to the State Government. Jellason, a Commissioner for Agriculture under former Governor Danbaba Suntai, was sworn in on Tuesday June 2, 2015 by the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Josephine Tuktur. Speaking at the swearing in ceremony in Jalingo, Ishaku urged the new SSG to put in his best in coordinating government activities for effective running of his administration. He said things would no longer be ‘business as usual’, and all hands must be on deck to surmount the challenges facing the state. Ishaku, who said he inherited a ‘politically and economically battered’ state, assured the people of the that his administration would overcome with their commitment and support. Responding, the new SSG thanked the governor for the appointment and pledged his unflinching loyalty to his administration. He appealed to all labour unions currently on strike in the state to meet with government. The governor also approved the appointments of Hassan Mijinyawa as Chief Press Secretary and Sylvanus Giwa as his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity. Both Mijinyawa and Giwa held the same positions during the regime of Suntai and Acting Governor Sani Abubakar Danladi. They both have over 20 years of journalism experience.
