Wike appoints PDP chair to manage Rivers waste

The Rivers State governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has appointed the state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Felix Obuah, as the sole administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Authority.
Wike announced Obuah’s appointment on Thursday after paying an unscheduled visit to the office of the waste management agency.
A statement signed on behalf of the state government by the Assistant Publicity Secretary to the Wike’s Campaign Organisation, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, read,   “The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has appointed Elder Felix Obuah as the new Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Authority.
“The appointment takes immediate effect. The governor, who paid an unscheduled visit to the office of the Authority, expressed disgust with the abysmal performance of the management.”
There are huge heaps of refuse dotting different parts of Port Harcourt, the state capital.
From Ikwerre Road to Ada George, New GRA to Aba Road and other parts of the state capital, the stench from various garbage sites that were left unpacked due to the strike embarked on by sanitation service providers had become worrisome to residents.
