N/Assembly: APC Moves to Stem Revolt, Reaches Out to Opposing Camp

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is reaching out to all its members in the incoming 8th National Assembly who may be aggrieved after the emergence of the party's official candidates on Saturday.
THISDAY learnt that tampers rose at the weekend when stakeholders of the party disagreed over the approach adopted in selecting consensus candidates for the 8th National Assembly leadership posts.
But in a bid to avoid running into the trap purportedly set by senators from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), the leadership of the APC Sunday began intensive lobby to woo more of its members-elect to support its consensus candidates.
The party said in a statement issued on Sunday by its National Secretary, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, that it is natural for some members to be disappointed by the outcome of the straw poll that was conducted to select the party's official candidates for the post: Senator Ahmed Lawan for Senate President and Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila for Speaker, House of Representatives.
