Spurs may force Liverpool to pay a few extra quid for Ings

Spurs may force Liverpool to pay a few extra quid for Ings. Lovely.  Tottenham target Danny Ings has agreed terms with Liverpool, but the Reds face paying a little more for the 22-year-old because Spurs had a ludicrous £12m bid accepted by Burnley.  RELATED: Ings alternatives: 7 other strikers Spurs could target this summer  The Independent says Liverpool may be forced to pay over £5m for out-of-contract Ings, with Burnley hoping for £7-8m. The two clubs are continuing to negotiate for the England U21 international but Spurs’ offer gives Burnley plenty of leverage, and may help persuade an independent tribunal that Ings is worth Burnley’s estimate should the clubs fail to agree a fee.  Spurs’ bid, which was made days before Ings’ contract officially expired, seemed strange and very un-Levy-like and, as Alan pointed out on twitter, I wonder if Spurs were bidding for a Liverpool-bound player for the sole purpose of doing Burnley a favour?
