MOBO AWARD-WINNING MC Stormzy has been nominated for a BET Award.
Fresh from his win at last year’s Music of Black Origin (MOBO) awards, the south London MC is looking to take home another bit of silverware at next month’s ceremony in Los Angeles.
"I'm excited and humbled to be nominated for the 'Best International Act: UK' BET Award! It's truly an honour," the rapper said after the nominations were announced today (May 18).
He is one of the six Brits recognised by the long-running awards show.
East London MC, Lethal Bizzle, singers FKA Twigs and MNEK, female MC Little Simz and Afrobeats star Fuse ODG will also go head to head with the wordsmith to fight it out for the Best International Act gong.
“Feeling very proud to represent the UK for such a coveted award, just to be nominated is an honour,” Lethal B said of his nomination.
“Really wasn't expecting to be nominated for a BET award! This is awesome and I'm very humbled,” MNEK added.
British singer Sam Smith received two nods for Best New Artist and the Centric Award.
The winning British artist will collect their award at the star-studded BET Awards 2015, to be held on 28 June at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles. The UK premiere will air on Tuesday 30 June at 9pm on BET (SKY 187 / VIRGIN 184 / FREESAT 140).
Michael Armstrong - EVP & GM of International Brand Development at VIACOM said “international relevance and demand for the BET Awards is increasing every year”.
He added: “Once again we're thrilled to bring the best UK and African artists to the attention of audiences the world over. The BET Awards is a show like no other, and this year's event promises to be nothing short of spectacular.”
