Coming to the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, Toyota is set to bring a
three-seater open-wheel concept based on the Lotus Seven which could see
production.
Power for the concept is said to be from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder
hybrid pushing 100 horsepower through a CVT to the back wheels, Motoring.com.au reports.
Dimensions include a weight of 1543 lbs — thanks to carbon fiber — an
overall length of 146 inches, and an overall width of 68 inches.
The publication’s source on the matter says the vehicle’s competition
would include the Mazda MX-5 and Honda S600/S1000 should the concept
hit the assembly line, a scenario which could occur if the concept
proves to be a hit among the press and public alike. Pricing would start
at $30,000 AUD ($23,000 USD), with the showroom-ready version bowing at
the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show before global sales kick off in 2018.
