The Caretaker Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Aminu Ibrahim, disclosed
to news men on Saturday in Sokoto when he gave his nine-month
stewardship.
He said the affected workers were sacked by the immediate past
administration, adding that they were reinstated on compassionate
grounds.
"They were reinstated by my administration to reduce restiveness and
other problems associated with poverty and unemployment, '' he said.
Ibrahim stated that the reinstated workers were redeployed to the
various departments of the Council, saying it was aimed at facilitating
the efforts of the local government to complement those of the state
government to provide the badly needed social services to the people of
the area.
According to him, the re-engaged workers were being paid monthly allowances and salaries from N 8,000 and above.
