A group,
under the auspices of Northern Youths Intellectual Forum, has strongly warned
critics against distracting the President Muhammadu Buhari government.
The
northern group in a statement issued Friday by its President, Abdul Oruma,
flayed some persons who have been attacking the one week old government.
The
statement further accused some persons loyal to the main opposition party, the
Peoples Democratic Party, of championing the alleged anti-Buhari campaign.
It,
however, called for constructive criticisms rather than negative ones.
According
to the statement, “The wind of change which swept across Nigeria rendered the
PDP a political orphan of some sort, yet those sympathetic to its cause, which
had once promised to dominate the spectrum of Nigeria’s political scenery for a
period of 60 years and beyond, are quick to criticise every single move of Mr.
President.
“While
this is understandable given their level of frustration as a result of the
heavy defeat inflicted on them by what we called ‘General March for Buhari
Tsunami’ as it were, constructive criticisms should be the watchword.
“Sometimes, I wonder where have all these
Civil Society Groups been despite the horrific political experimentation
undergone under the past leadership”.
