Leicester
City’s recent signing Christian Fuchs could lead to renewed interested from
Arsenal in 22-year-old Foxes star Jeffrey Schlupp.
For much
of this past campaign, Pearson has had both Schlupp and Paul Knochesky to call
on, but with the former Charlton and Liverpool fullback out of contract this
summer, it is natural that the Foxes boss was eager to reinforce that area of
the pitch.
Free
transfer signing Fuchs will expect to be a prominent first-team player at the
King Power Stadium considering he is Austrian captain, but left back is a role
under some development under Nigel Pearson, who dabbled with switching to a
wingback system with huge success in the last few weeks of the season.
Schlupp
finished the season as first-choice on the left hand side, and impressed with
his work rate and attacking contribution, scoring four times and assisting four
more in 35 games.
